All about the Electric Garage Heaters

Electric Garage Heater Setup

An electric garage heater is basically a space heater that is designed to heat a relatively large space. Most garage heaters are designed to heat a space about 300 square feet in size. This space is equal to a typical one car garage. Electric garage heaters have many benefits over other heating methods. They provide more heat to larger spaces and do it in a cleaner manner than fuel operated garage heaters. Installing an electric garage heater is a relatively simple process.

Most electric garage heaters are not very large but are designed to provide sufficient amount of heat to heat a relatively large space. The most efficient way to hang a garage electric heater is from the ceiling. This is beneficial because it saves space that could be utilized better by other devices.

It seems that no matter how large a garage is there is never enough room for all the stuff you need to store. Between the bikes and all the outdoor activity equipment there is barely enough room for the car and in many cases there is not even room for that never mind trying to fit in a large space heater. Hanging your garage heater from the ceiling leaves the precious floor space for other devices like water skies and skateboards.

The great thing about an electric garage heater is that once it is hung it can be left alone and basically forgotten about except in the rare case that it breaks down. Since it uses electricity as its fuel source there is not a tank that needs to be refilled as is the case with a propane heater. It also is less likely to break down since it uses very few parts.

When purchasing an electric garage heater it is important that you pay attention to how the unit is connected to the electricity. Many electric heaters are the standard plug in type. This is convenient and means that all that needs to be done is that it needs to be hung in the desired location and then plugged into an electric wall outlet.

Other electric heaters are hard wired, meaning that they are actually directly connected to the electrical wiring of the garage. This system is more difficult to work with since it needs to be tied into the current electrical system. It may be a good idea in the case of this style of electric heater to contact a professional electrician to assist with the installation.
